Inter-effect Orthogonality and Optimality in Hierarchical Models

چکیده
The study of optimal fractional factorial plans has received considerable attention over the last two decades. The universal optimality of plans based on orthogonal arrays was shown by Cheng (1980) and Mukerjee (1982). Various extensions of this result have also been reported in the literature; see Mukerjee (1995) for a brief review. Most of these results relate to situations where all factorial effects involving the same number of factors are considered equally important and, as such, the underlying model involves the general mean and all effects involving up to a specified number of factors. The aforesaid presumption of equality in the importance of all factorial effects involving the same number of factors is, however, not tenable in many practical situations. For example, there may be a reason to believe that only one of the factors can possibly interact with the others and that interactions involving three or more factors are absent. The model then involves the general mean, all main effects and only some but not all two–factor interactions. The issue of optimality in situations of this kind for two–level factorials has been addressed recently by Hedayat and Pesotan (1992, 1997) and Chiu and John (1998); see also Wu and

Degree of Optimality as a Measure of Distance of Power System Operation from Optimal Operation
This paper presents an algorithm based on inter-solutions of having scheduled electricity generation resources and the fuzzy logic as a sublimation tool of outcomes obtained from the schedule inter-solutions. The goal of the algorithm is to bridge the conflicts between minimal cost and other aspects of generation. In the past, the optimal scheduling of electricity generation resources has been ...
متن کاملFuzzy Hierarchical Location-Allocation Models for Congested Systems
There exist various service systems that have hierarchical structure. In hierarchical service networks, facilities at different levels provide different types of services. For example, in health care systems, general centers provide low-level services such as primary health care services, while the specialized hospitals provide high-level services. Because of demand congestion in service networ...
متن کاملSolution of Multi-Objective optimal reactive power dispatch using pareto optimality particle swarm optimization method
For multi-objective optimal reactive power dispatch (MORPD), a new approach is proposed where simultaneous minimization of the active power transmission loss, the bus voltage deviation and the voltage stability index of a power system are achieved. Optimal settings of continuous and discrete control variables (e.g. generator voltages, tap positions of tap changing transformers and the number of...
متن کاملProcess Improvement of Experimental Measurements Using D-optimal Models
In this paper, the application of D-optimal models, as an alternative to response surface models (RS models) for design of experiment (DOE) was examined. Two D-optimal models for tilt-rotors in the wind tunnel experiment, as a form of quadratic functions, were generated based on a chosen optimality criterion. This optimality criterion was used to generate the optimized sampled points in the des...
متن کاملOn Approximate Birkhoff-James Orthogonality and Approximate $ast$-orthogonality in $C^ast$-algebras
We offer a new definition of $varepsilon$-orthogonality in normed spaces, and we try to explain some properties of which. Also we introduce some types of $varepsilon$-orthogonality in an arbitrary $C^ast$-algebra $mathcal{A}$, as a Hilbert $C^ast$-module over itself, and investigate some of its properties in such spaces. We state some results relating range-kernel orthogonality in $C^*$-algebras.
